On Scobleizer, I read his post, which links to business week article on the same topic.
I love all these new thingies, like blogs, twitter, iwiw, whatever, but still, I am not convinced that they will “rule the net”. Actually, I am not entirely convinced of this whole web 2.0 thing.
Why is that? I will be honest, around here, not even the technically savy, the geeks show much interest about these web 2.0 things so far.
I don’t know too many people who use, or even heard of Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Ma.gnolia, and so on. Why, when I showed del.icio.us to someone this year, he was totally blasted “wow, that’s cool, never heard of it”.
So I don’t think e-mails will be gone. I could try to use facebook or twitter for communication, but unfortunately noone would read it. Plus, don’t forget the company factor. If it’s about work, it MUST be controlled, big time.
Why, we would all just DIE if some secret would slip out – like, the name of a client, which is displayed on the company website, but you DARE NOT utter it in front of other clients.
E-mails will stay. Twitter and web 2.0 must wait a few years yet.
