A big jump, and many thanks

This entry is part 1 of 8 in the series Moving UK

In the last three weeks things have changed a lot. Three weeks ago, on a sunny Thursday I made a decision and told my boss I want to change my job.

I was thinking for a long time, the reasons are irrelevant, the decision is final. By June, I will be leaving my current company. The decision was under lid, made public on managements’request only on last Wednesday.

It was the nextday, Friday when I was out at the pub with my friend, and former co-worker, when he suddenly dropped in that he is thinking of going back to England.

You have to know that I always wanted to work abroad, at least for a while, and almost, almost got a chance in the US, unfortunately the dotcom bubble burst before I signed the contract. The rest is history.

So, I made the decision of going to the UK to try my luck there.

The last two weeks was about this, scrapping my vacation plans, some of my daily projects, rearranging my finances, working out some backup plans, getting information on how can I apply for a job there, all the important stuff.

I am resolved to get through with this, and I want to thank for all the nice words and encouragement from @joiedevie, @amypalko, @Devyl and everyone else.

While I’ve never made a jump as big as you’re making, I like changing up my life now and then with a move or a job change or whatever. I think that life is meant to be lived, and that means experiencing everything you can while you can.

I think you’re incredible for the changes you are about to make. There is no doubt that there will be struggle, but you have a sense of adventure and a desire to make it work, so you’ll settle in just fine.

I’m so glad you’re doing this, and that I can follow your adventure … because I have a feeling it is going to be a fun one to read about!!

Well, we will see Devyl, I hope it will be fun and in the good sense, not the “he fell flat on his face” funny way :)

It certainly be something to remember, and my take on it is even if I fail, it will have been a mighty good time of my life.
