Mayday, mayday, server’s down, I repeat, server’s down…

So, on a nice sunny Sunday – the 30th of March – the server hosting my blog decided that it was time to give up on life. Or something like that.

I am not really sure what happened, but it was down for about 70 hours until it was removed. Then, I had to get my site data back. Well, regular backups are a good idea, but you don’t learn it until you got burned. At least, I was in a really good company with this trouble.

So when I could not reach the site for two days, I went to look for a new hosting possibility. here, I want to say thank you to @darkgracie, @karenswim, @inkedmn and @solidsmack for the fast help. The winner was slicehost, ’cause I am a geek, and a control freak, so I like the idea of messing up my own site in a thousand different way.

So far I am content with it, probably because I did not mess around enough to completely screw my installation, but just wait.

So, after a long fight, I restored my site, and now I hope it will not disappear suddenly. And I promise I will make regular backups. Like every day.
