So another period in my life is nearing the end. When I gave my notice early March, I honestly had no idea of what I will do next. Then, in a few days, after a long night of talking the plan to move to England was born.
It still seemed a far away thing, dates and possibilities kept changing, but now, this Friday will be the end of a two year long period, and that’s the reason I was silent here, and over twitter, and basically everywhere for the last two weeks.
It was a pretty good two years, at a good company, where I have learned a lot, both professional and about people. I had the luck to participate in projects in several fields, and in several countries, and it gave me a chance to know a lot of really great people.
But, everything comes to an end, and this is my last week. And I am going to move forward carrying a lot of good lessons and memories.
So, I have to look forward. And plan and try to figure out the next step. The goal is clear, I want to, and will, work in the UK, the only hazy part is the where.
It turned out in the last few months that to find a job while I reside in another country is not easy. Oh yes, I have gone to LinkedIn, Xing and connected with a lot of recruiters, plus I posted my CV on totaljobs.com and monster.co.uk, but somehow I got the feeling that I will have more luck with job hunting if I move my HQ to the hunting grounds.
So, as the plan goes, I will move to the UK at the end of July – end of June is my birthday, so I will have to be at home, and my name day is on the 15th of July, have to spend it with my family. That puts the time of moving to somewhere around 20th-25th of July.
I am sure that it will be a pretty interesting – and challenging time – but I think it will worth it, no matter what. And given that I have people who nudge me and help me along the path, both offline and from the net, especially Karen Swim -, all it will take is me, and my efforts and I am positive that I can pull it.
Exciting stuff Roland. Good luck with your move
Joanna
Thank you Joanna, I will need the luck :)
Roland, I am so happy for you and celebrate the next step of my journey. Weeks ago you shared an old Latin quote that translates to “When you have a dream the universe conspires to make it a reality.” I know that doors will begin to open on your behalf and people will appear seemingly from nowhere to help you reach your destination. And always, my friend you can count on my support and encouragement. I wish you great blessings!
Thank you Karen. I hope it will be so, except the people from nowhere should better not appear from nowhere right in front of me or I'll freak out. :)
But seriously, it seems I got a lot of help.
Now, I will get a dartboard with an England map to decide where to move.
